Has anyone here been assigned to the 18 WS/19 ASOS/173rd SETAF?  What did you think of the assignment?

Quote: Matt, I am currently stationed with the 173rd ABN at Vicenza, IT. Honestly we have no alignment at all with the 173. We fall under SETAF here. We have 0 guys that even associate with the 173. Howeve...

Seems like wasted jump slots then, jumpers should be with the unit doing the forced entry mission, and not with the staff.

Wishing everyone a GREAT AF day!

I am the NCOIC there.  There really is no need to have an Airborne guy there unless of the USAF decided to support the BCT's."Airborne killer at the OWS, well at least Airborne"

The USAF has already said that we will support the BCT's.

Maybe so, but you better pin them down on what "support" really means... And it's BEST to get it defined IN WRITING.

Age old problem - Hand-wringing Type C personality meteorologist SNCOs and officers deciding to what level hard-charging Type A meteorologist PARATROOPERS will support the Army Airborne forces.

"Oooo - That Army stuff's DANGEROUS! Let's go with remote support..." - Frequently overheard from latte-sipping Pencil Neck Legs who "just don't get it" and probably never will...

SOWT Operator - 1987-1992, 1995-96, 1999-2001, 2003-2005 - Now serving in the ARMY - Hooah!!!
