Hello all,

I came in the Air Force with a CCT contract February of 2009, got disqualified from flight status for a high school sports concussion at BMT, retrained as a photographer, got my waiver approved for flying status October of 2009, looking at crosstraining into SOWT or CCT during my retrain window.

Welcome...but im confused

I'm gonna be going to MEPS within a month and I'm definitely nervous. It was my understanding that they checked all of this kind of stuff out at MEPS so you're good to go for BMT and anything else for that matter.I thought if you got a contract for an afsc then you were completely qualified medically. How do they dq you at BMT if everything checks out at MEPS?

It is an extremely long story that I won't bore you with, but I would say that anything is possible And nothing is in stone when it comes to the AF, I went to great lengths to get my CCT contract and when I got to BMT and my flight physical second week they looked at my chart and past concussion and acted like it was never cleared, when it was. I subsequently spent an extra ten weeks at Lackland fighting to keep my contract to no avail. But I have since got my flight status back and am looking to give it another go during my retraining window in 2011. My best advice is not to tell them anymore than you absolutley have to medically.

I got ya well I've already told them everything so right now I'm just hoping it will all clear with the docs. That's unfortunate you had to go through a bunch of bull but I'm sure you've gotten some good training in during the whole process. The more prepared you are the easier the pipeline will be whether you're going for sowt or cct or anything for that matter.Good luck with your retraining.
